What spirit do you like to work with the most? what is the last drink you made with it?
Vodka, tasteless and odorless at it’s best.
Perhaps you are a wine and beer fan and distilled beverages don’t float your boat, what is the last incredible wine or beer you drank? What made it spectacular?
I love wine. Most recently I’m enjoying New Age. a 10% Sauvignon Blanc, 90% Torrontes. It’s crisp, light, refreshing and slightly carbonated.
If you could change one thing about the drinks business on Maui what would it be? Having cocktails on the dance floor in bars. We’re all adults and I for one would like to get my boogie on with a cocktail in hand!
What is your favorite happy hour on Maui? Why?
Tiki Lounge for the margaritas, Three’s for their truffle nachos, yum.
What is your bar’s signature drink/wine/beer?
I would recommend our Pina Colada. Made with fresh Maui Gold pineapple and blended to creamy perfection.
What is YOUR signature drink? (Or go to wine or beer in your selection?)
A unique and spicy bloody mary. Can’t give away too much but it is garnished with a crispy strip of bacon.
When you are making a cocktail what is the most important thing?
That it tastes amazing.
Who or what influences you outside of the beverage business?
My family and peoples’ passions.
Lets say your pitching an investor who wants you to open your ultimate bar. What is your concept? Where is it located?
Oceanside Maui or Kauai, Open air, relaxed, tropical. Great drinks, a couple pool tables and live music. Then at 2am open for breakfast, best biscuits and gravy on island. Luna’s Bar & Cafe
Name one new liquor/beer/wine you tasted recently. What was your impression? Mauicello. Delicious, full of lemon flavor!
What are your regulars like?
Amazing. Diverse. Fun to talk to. Sassy. Fascinating. And hairy..ok, that’s my dog regulars.
What is one interesting thing about being a bartender on Maui?
Meeting people from all over the world.
What makes a good bartender? Why are you one?
In my opinion someone who can put out drinks in a timely manner while also being able to entertain guests. Someone who is knowledgable about drinks, attentive and fun. I try.
What is the newest drink you have created? Describe whats in it.
Twisted Watermelon Martini – top shelf vodka, splash Limoncello, fresh watermelon juice, mint & raw jalapenos.
SOUTH SHORE TIKI LOUNGE HAPPY HOUR – Daily. Everyday from 11am-6pm get $3 Bud Light draft, $3 Bud Light bottles, $4 Sauza margaritas on the rocks, Guinness pints, and Bloody Mary’s. On Mondays from 8pm-close get $4 Smokin Jager Shooters, $5 Jager Bombs and Cherry Bombs. Go on Tequila Tuesdays from 10pm-close to get $3 Corona and Corona Light, $3 Sauza shots, $4 Sauza margaritas, $5 Patron shots. Ladies Night Wednesdays feature $3 Bud Light draft and bottles, as well as $4 “Oh My Goodness” cocktails.
